The Reading List:

  1. Susan Slusser has reported that Josh Reddick is headed to the DL with a wrist injury that originally occurred back on April 7 as the right fielder chased a foul ball. Slusser also noted that Daric Barton has been tabbed to replace Reddick on the roster. Barton takes the place of  Jordan Noberto on the 40-man roster after the reliever was released. River Cats’ batting coach Greg Sparks said Barton has “figured out who he is” and that his swing looks the “best” it has since he arrived from St Louis.
  2. Norberto is currently rehabbing an elbow injury, and only began throwing two days ago. The lefty said “I really love the Oakland A’s” and could be re-signed to a minor league deal if he doesn’t get picked up by another team.
  3. Bob Melvin noted that Chris Young is ahead of Coco Crisp is his injury recovery. Both are eligible to return next Tuesday.
  4. Melvin doesn’t “anticipate” that Jarrod Parker will miss his next start. Brett Anderson threw a bullpen session in Cleveland today, and depending on how he recovers he could be headed out for a minor league rehab start. Anderson is eligible to return next Thursday.
  5. SI’s Ben Reiter posted a “companion column” to this week’s feature on Yoneis Céspedes.
  6. Hiro Nakajima was not in the Rive Cats lineup today in Memphis. News10 ABC interviewed Nakajima on his first day with the River Cats last week.

The Post Game Reading List:

  1. Tommy Milone allowed allowed one unearned run over seven innings, but picked up his fourth loss as the A’s were dealt their fourth shutout of the season.
  2. Yoenis Céspedes is now 0-for-3 on stolen base attempts after once again getting thrown out in the ninth inning. The team is pinch hitting .063 (2-for-32).
  3. Michael Taylor made a shoestring grab in the seventh.
  4. Josh Reddick is headed to the DL with a wrist injury that he originally sustained back on April 7 crashing into a wall in Houston in an 8-0 game. Daric Barton is headed back to the A’s to replace him. The arrival of Barton will allow Brandon Moss to move to right field.
  5. Hiro Nakajima was 0-for-4 with two strike outs in his return to the lineup for the River Cats.
  6. Tomorrow at 4:05 PM A.J. Griffin faces Justin Masteron in game three of the series.

A’s walk off in 19th against Angels

Brandon Moss cracked a two-run walk off home run in the 19th inning as the A’s defeated the Angels 10-8. The A’s twice came back, and trailed the Angels 7-2 in the eighth inning.  The game was the longest in Oakland A’s history.

Post Game Reading List:

  1. Coco Crisp (hamstring-13th), Chris Young (quad-15th), and Brett Anderson (ankle-18th) all left the game early. Anderson ended up throwing 79 pitches on a night when he was originally scratched from his start. The team will most likely need to recall an outfielder and pitcher for tomorrow Tuesday night’s game.
  2. Young hit what appeared to have been a walk off in the ninth. Young had originally pinch hit for Reddick in the 8th.
  3. Jed Lowrie collected his 34th hit and tied a team record for April. He also tied a team record with 11 doubles.
  4. Seth Smith is 10-for-19 against left handers this season.
  5. The Angels bullpen has allowed 17 runs to the A’s in four games.
  6. The A’s lead the MLB with 145 runs, but have also been shut out three times.
  7. Casper Wells has been traded to Chicago. After being designated for assignment three times in the first month, the White Sox will be Wells fourth team of the season.
  8. Daric Barton is now the all-time leader in runs scored in River Cats history.
  9. In game two of the series Jarrod Parker will look to earn his first win on the final day of the month. He faces off against Garrett Richards.
