  2. John Hickey reported that Chris Young still has the confidence of Melvin who believes that the outfielder’s “talent level is going to take over.”
  3. The A’s selected 42 players in the 2013 draft including 23 pitchers, six catchers, six infielders and seven outfielders.
  4. Hiro Nakajima had last night off, but Jemile Weeks was 3-for-5 with a pair of triples and Grant Green was 4-for-5 with three runs. In his past three games Weeks is now 9-for-15 with six runs while Green has strung together four straight multi-hit games.
  5. Melissa Lockard reported that the team has acquired Sacramento-native Vinnie Catricala from Seattle. The third baseman, who was the Mariners Minor League Player of the Year in 2011, is hitting .253 in Double-A.
  6. On this day in 2002 the A’s the bullpen coughed up a five-run lead in the top of the eighth inning after Tim Hudson had allowed one run over seven innings. Miguel Tejada, however, hit a leadoff home run off of Octavio Dotel in the bottom half of the inning to give the A’s a 7-6 win.
